    Prominent Bulgarians in the Third Age Foundation (Registered by Sofia City Court in 1997,# 3872) has its main goals involve, to motivate and to co-ordinate economists, jurists, medical doctors, engineers, agrarians and other specialists and experts from the “matured" age for support of the reforms in the small mountain and border municipalities and less developed regions in our country.

    In Bulgaria there is no practice in this - active specialists in their third age to help both the people in diffucult situation and self-government local authorities. Probably we are the first and the only non profit organisation in Bulgaria, which prepares 4 specialised teams:

  1. For medical services;
  2. For creation of conditions for small business, family business and handicraft work for part- and full-time jobs;
  3. For juridical and economical consultation and services;
  4. For small repairs and cleaning in the houses of ill and immobilised people.
    The main priority for the four teams is to work in the small mountain and border municipalities / communities.

Our long-term program in the City of Sofia has two priorities:

  1. To establish functional teams to help temporary traumatised people, who in result of insult, infarction, poisoning, surgical operation, bone-breaking etc. are curing at home from one to six months;
  2. To establish up and improve conditions of Sofia parks and gardens.
    The third age persons are ready as volunteers to put efforts and energy for solving priority problems of the civil society, especially in the mountain and border rnunicipalities. But for the effective management of the teams and the activity as a whole the establishment of a House for Co-ordination is necessary. In Bulgaria (and other Cenlral and East European States) there is not any Co-ordination Center, where active and full with capabilities specialists in the third age to meet, to discuss and to participate in the solving of big and small problems.

    The construction of such Co-ordination Center with space about 250 m2 will cost about 75 000 USD and will take about 1 year, but the use of it will be above 50 or 100 years.

THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CO-ORDINATION CENTER IS AN URGENT MATTER BECAUSE:

  1. The third age specialists are big human capital, which now is out of the attention of the society, out of work and they are torced to vegetate;
  2. The population in Bulgaria and all Europe will continue to advance in age. The more the aged people will be isolated from the possibilities to be active and to be of use for the others the more they will be disintegrated and helpless.
  3. The participation in the solving of the priority problems at local level will help the adaptation to the challenges of the XXI century and will help the integration of the generations.
  4. The delay of the construction of such Center means more difficulties and more problems for the next generations;
  5. The lack of Center means much more difficulties for the co-ordination of the volunteers and waste of human energy. Also this means that the exchange of opinions will be complicated.
  6. For the last 10 years there was no dialogue between the aged people from East and West Europe.
    The construction of Co-ordination and Integration Center has to be carried as soon as possible. It is very important at the beginning of XXI century for Europe to get such building. It will be the beginning of a new tradition. We have not the necessary experience and we will be very glad for ideas, advice, etc. The most difficult is to start the construction. We hope that with your help and support the construction the start will be successful. We offer you partnership.

    The construction of Co-ordination and Integration Center for third age people is an eternal message for dialogue and partnership in the new millenium. It will be a symbol of the deeds of third age people in Europe. The Center will become an architectural and cultural monument for the new mission of the Third Age in the New Century.
